JAN HOFMEYER COMMUNITY SERVICES, HOME.

We wish to take this opportunity to introduce to you JAN HOFMEYER COMMUNITY SERVICES.

We are a non-racial charity organisation registered with the Department of Social Developement as an independent non-profit organization on the 1 August 2000 [009/757/NPO], to uplift the marginalized communities of Jan Hofmeyer, Vredepark and Vrededorp. Since 20 June 2008 we are registered as a section 21 Company.

Presently one cooked meal is provided per day five days a week to approximately 180 children, 104 Senior citizens and 103 unemployed/destitute people.

The service is operated by the community [staff in the kitchen are local volunteers], for the community under the supervision of a management committee.

An unofficial pre-school has been established for the development and stimulation of skills for younger children.

A limited number of entertainment and recreational activities are arranged for children during school holidays and a Christmas party early December for children and Senior citizens.

This year, 2009 our project “The Jannies Club” will focus on the children of the Community between 7 and 16 years of age, to give them a sense of belonging and self worth and teach them ethical norms and values.

A small Library is available for the community.

Once a month the eldery are entertained on tea, cake and music.

We provide clothing and blankets as well as trauma assistance in cases of illness and death.

We are registered with SARS in terms of section 18a of the income tax act. Donations to JHCS may in part be recovered from income tax in terms of section 18a.

We receive no support from Government and are totally dependant on the assistance and support from the public and the business sector to enable us to provide these services on an ongoing basis.

You are most welcome to visit us at the following address.
